The Story of LoBT Trash

Twice a Year Dumpster Paused: After nine rounds of service over 5 years, the board has paused the semi-annual dumpster events. While this service is widely appreciated and utilized by many owners, the trash itself does not seem to behave:
- trash tries to escape by piling up in the open gateway (for volunteers to clean up before the gate can be closed)
- some trash clearly prefers parking in the parking lot (and volunteers have put it in the dumpster or hire a third party to do it)
- the trash seems to grow, rising above the top rim of the container (volunteers then need to climb into the dumpster, remove the excess trash, order a second dumpster, and load in the excess trash)
- empty boxes defy being broken down (which quickly fills the dumpster and depends on volunteers to climb in and break them down)
- migrant trash magically appears from other communities
- and then there is the much-feared "demasiada basura" (a single resident's trash filled more than 50% of the dumpster).
Weekly Trash Collection: On another front, our friends at the City of Dallas are also frustrated with our "bad boy" trash hanging around outside of our roll-carts. Additionally, they told us that there have been complaints about roll-carts being placed out too early and being left out too long (for days).
If we want the trash collection people to like and respect us, and surely we do, we will need to put all of our trash in the roll-cart. We also need to limit the outdoor time for our roll-carts - no sooner than 6:30 PM the night before and no longer than 6:30 PM on the day of. If you can't adhere to these times, please ask a trusted trash buddy for help. Your neighbors will appreciate this; especially on the weekends when they have guests.

Pool and Carport Roll-carts: Please do not use these for household trash or pet waste. Some of our sunbathers are averse to the smell of decay and hot animal waste.
Roll-carts: If you need a new roll-cart or need to get rid of a roll-cart, please call 311. Please don't gift an unwanted cart to the common area - no matter how thoughtful that might seem at the time. Besides, roll-carts have serial numbers tying them back to their owner.
