Package Theft
A theft report was received at 6:00 AM this morning. At midday yesterday, a man wearing an ID badge, a "Walmart blue" hat, and a "Walmart blue" tote bag was filmed stealing a package from the porch of 5050 Westgrove minutes after it was delivered.
Based on the gate logs and photos, it appears that both the FedEx and the thief's vehicle entered the community by tailgating behind someone.
Amazon's Prime Days Sale was July 16-17. The sale features two days of significant discounts on electronics and top brands. Most of those purchases will be delivered between this Wednesday and next Tuesday.
Residents are encouraged to look for suspicious people on the property. Please discourage anyone who tailgates in behind you as you enter the property. If someone does tailgate in, you may want to stop, let them pass you, and observe where they go. Several board members have been doing this and have seen vehicles quickly turn around and exit the property when they realize they are being watched.
If you have any observations or suggestions, please post them below.

I have seen people enter at the Knoll Trail gate when I exit they zip behind me and go in through the exit. I have started stopping as soon as I clear the exit gate and waiting for it to close, but it stays open for a long time!
ReplyDeleteNot long ago a FedEx truck entered the exit gate on Knoll Trail and met another FedEx truck that was already in the community and they parked at the south end of the community and visited for quite awhile.
I don’t go in if I feel someone is tailgating me. Or I stop just inside and wait until they back up and leave before I go on and let the gate close.
ReplyDeleteFASTER GATE CLOSING: The set up on the exit gates are different from the entry gates in that they open toward the vehicle. It is possible to close those gates quickly after a vehicle exits. The Knoll Trail gate has been set up to do that and it is working well now for 3 days.
ReplyDeleteFASTER CLOSING: The exit gate at Westgrove now has a faster close rate. There is an electric eye that will stop the gate from closing if your car "breaks the plane" of the fence line. If the gate is closing, don't stop; rather, go forward and break the plane.
